Add to that the fact that this is a multiple angled collaboration with the stunning dancers of Curet Performance Project and all tied together and co-presented by Project 142, who will also host a post-concert reception. The show is January 31st, at 8pm at the Dimenna Center for Classical Music, located at 450 West 37th Street (between 9th & 10th Avenues) New York, N.Y.

Come join us for a refreshing night of great new music and dance!

Brass Motion
January 31st, 2019
featuring
Manhattan Brass
& Curet Performance Project

Co-presented with Project 142

Featuring compositions by:
Aaron Alter, Seth Boustead, Dan Cooper, Shanan Estreicher,
Masatora Goya, Gene Pritsker, David Saperstein, David See,
Bjørn Bolstad Skjelbred, Joseph Martin Waters, Jessica Wells

Brass Motion
January 31st at 8pm
The DiMenna Center - Benzaquen Hall
450 West 37th Street
(between 9th & 10th Avenues)
New York, N.Y. 10018
(212) 594-6100
https://dimennacenter.org
$20 General Admission (cash at the door please)
Facebook
Tickets

On January 31st at 8pm at The DiMenna Center - Benzaquen Hall, Composers Concordance and Project 142 will co-present a concert featuring contemporary music for brass instruments combined with innovative choreography. Entitled 'Brass Motion,' the program will be performed by the acclaimed Manhattan Brass: Tony Kadleck, Wayne du Maine - trumpets; R. J. Kelly - horn; Mike Seltzer - trombone; and Jonathan Greenberg - bass trombone. With choreography by Curet Performance Project: Megan Curet, Gerard Minaya, and Maria Vittoria Villa, as well as Chloe London, among others. Refreshments will be provided by Project 142.

Staying in rotation for 35 years in NYC is a rare feat. In the case of a new music presenting organization, it requires not only diligence and cognizance of achievements of the past, but also an ethic of keeping one's ear to the ground for emerging stylistic and technological developments, as well as talented new composers on the scene. Composers Concordance, founded in 1984 by Joseph Pehrson and Patrick Hardish, advised by Otto Luening, strives to present contemporary music in innovative ways, with an emphasis on thematic programming. Directors Gene Pritsker and Dan Cooper co-curate the programs, and lead the CompCord Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra, String Orchestra, and Big Band. Associate Directors are Milica Paranosic, Peter Jarvis, Svjetlana Bukvich, and Debra Kaye. Composers Concordance has also created a Naxos-distributed record label: Composers Concordance Records, co-directed by Peter Jarvis. Composers Concordance's overriding vision is to promote contemporary music, composers, and new works as a rightful and respected part of society. Good music, performed and recorded well, pushing the boundaries of sound and composition.

"An unwavering force in giving composers exposure through concert bookings and its own record label, the intrepid new-music organization Composers Concordance" -The Brooklyn Rail. "For the past 30 years, Composers Concordance has been a booster for local composers, through both its concerts across the city and a record label." -The Wall Street Journal. "Enterprising new music organization" -The New York Times. "The Composers Concordance folks are unpredictable and at times refreshingly irreverent in a reverent sort of way....ingenious fun" -Classical-Modern Music Review. "Edgy... boisterous... demanding our attention" -San Diego Story. "These men and women are creating exciting music with elements of jazz, world music and many experimental techniques blended with equal parts classical tradition and playing techniques." -Asbury Park Press. "There is considerable evidence to show that Composers Concordance may be one of the most exciting labels in American contemporary music." -JazzdaGama.

PRESS:
for more information, please contact:
Composers Concordance
(646) 522-9442
info@composersconcordance.com
http://www.composersconcordance.com

DIRECTIONS:
The DiMenna Center - Benzaquen Hall
450 West 37th Street
(between 9th & 10th Avenues)
New York, N.Y. 10018

https://www.oslmusic.org/dimenna-center

A, C, E trains to 34th Street and 8th Avenue
1, 2, 3, LIRR trains to 34th Street and 7th Avenue
N, R, Q, B, D, F, M trains to 34th Street and 6th Avenue
N, Q, R, S, 1, 2, 3, 7 trains to Times Square 42nd Street and 7th Avenue
M11 bus to 38th Street and 9th Avenue
M42 bus to 42nd Street and 10th Avenue
Time to hear the same traditional tunes and rarely a new take on them - until MB released “Manhattan Holiday” - a recording (now 5yrs old!) that loosened up and shook out the holidaze like few others have. That recording is always available for purchase and streaming at the usual online spots, but look for MB performing these new classics, once again, this year in Manhattan and the Bronx in early December. Later in the month we’ll be continuing our residency at Marble Collegiate Church (29th & Fifth Ave, Manhattan) with the more formal proceedings of Christmas Eve in two glorious and music predominated services. Seats fill up quickly, so get there a little early if you want one! Click up top on “Calendar” for all the specifics; dates, times, locations...

And now, as the weather starts to cool, we’re going to take this baby out for a few long drives and show everyone how this classic takes a moment for a little retooling and comes out roaring!

We are very happy to announce that our first all-out NYC concert in almost two years will be a double entendre of a celebration…September 25th will be a celebration of the 25th Anniversary of this venerable ensemble, and will also mark the start of a new relationship, which we are seriously looking forward to embarking on. That relationship is with Marble Collegiate Church, of midtown Manhattan, and its music director and principal organist, Ken Dake. To celebrate this partnership, the concert is being held at Marble, in their magnificent sanctuary, and will feature Mr Dake as our guest artist on the program. Marble has an impressive and recently installed Sebastian M. Glück organ, which really cranks out the bass, as well as all manner of great sounds through 6500 pipes! Please come join us at this momentous occasion!

Check back for more info on continuing residency appearances and other concerts & programs!
